The Bengaluru Urban Forest Restoration Mission (BUFRM) is a large-scale, community-driven initiative aimed at transforming unused, degraded, and underutilized urban spaces into thriving micro-forests across Bengaluru.
With rapid urbanization, the city faces rising temperatures, declining air quality, and shrinking green cover. BUFRM addresses these challenges by creating dense, native forests using scientifically proven methods such as the Miyawaki Method, ensuring faster growth and long-term ecological sustainability.

1. Site Identification & Preparation
Selection of vacant lands, lake buffers, school campuses, and government spaces across Bengaluru.
2. Scientific Plantation Model
High-density plantation of native species using the Miyawaki technique—creating forests that grow 10x faster and 30x denser than conventional plantations.
3. Community Participation
Volunteer-driven plantation drives, “Adopt-a-Forest” programs, and school engagement initiatives.
4. Maintenance & Monitoring
3-year structured maintenance plan including watering, mulching, survival audits, and digital monitoring.
